Basic Program
The Basic Program is available only to those who were enrolled in the TRDP prior to September 1, 2000 and who have chosen to remain enrolled in the Basic Program rather than upgrade their enrollment to the Enhanced Program. Effective September 1, 2000, when the Enhanced Program took effect, new enrollments in the Basic Program were discontinued. The Basic Program remains closed to new enrollments; however, a Basic Program enrollee may add his or her dependent(s) to an existing Basic Program account.
If you are enrolled in the Basic Program and have questions about your coverage that are not addressed in the frequently asked questions or Benefits Booklet, please contact Customer Service.

Enhanced Coverage
Benefits available immediately when you upgrade to the Enhanced Program include:
- a second cleaning within a 12-month period
- additional diagnostic and preventive services not covered under the Basic Program
- coverage for composite fillings on one- and two-surfaces of your back teeth
- an amalgam allowance for composite fillings on three and four surfaces of your back teeth
- dental accident coverage
- coverage for emergency services when traveling overseas
Additional coverage for major services such as cast crowns, onlays, bridges, full and partial dentures, dental implant services and orthodontia become available after 12 months of continuous enrollment in the Enhanced Program.
