TRDP transition to FEDVIP

Dental coverage under the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP) ended on December 31, 2018. However, as directed in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017, retired uniformed services members and their families, who were eligible for TRDP, have the opportunity to enroll in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). You will not automatically be enrolled in FEDVIP. You must take action to have dental coverage in 2019.

If you have already enrolled in a dental plan through FEDVIP, you would have received a FEDVIP enrollment confirmation from BENEFEDS and information from your new dental plan carrier in January 2019.

Enrollment in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) takes place during Federal Benefits Open Season, which usually runs from the second Monday in November through the second Monday in December each year. Since the 2018 open season has ended, you must be newly eligible or have experienced a qualifying life event (QLE) in order to enroll in FEDVIP for 2019 coverage. Otherwise, the next opportunity for you to enroll in FEDVIP dental coverage will be during the 2019 Federal Benefits Open Season.

Visit benefeds.com for more information on your enrollment options.
