Managing Your Enrollment

An important part of your managing your TRDP enrollment is updating your Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) record to make that all your personal information—phone numbers, mailing and email addresses, etc. is current.

If you move or experience any of the following life events, you should update your DEERS record as soon as possible:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Death of a spouse
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Medicare eligibility or loss of eligibility
  • Change in a student's enrollment status

Making changes to your DEERS information is easy and can be done online at milConnect, by fax or mail, or in person at the nearest Uniformed Services identification card office.

Many DEERS updates require supporting documentation, such as marriage licenses, birth or death certificates, Medicare cards or DD-214 discharge forms or Power of Attorney (POA) forms. Note: To submit a POA to Delta Dental, please provide:

  1. the sponsor’s information, including first and last name, subscriber identification number, and date of birth;
  2. your information, including your first and last name, street address, city, state and ZIP code; and
  3. a completed and signed POA form (obtainable from various websites).

Mail the POA to:

Disenrolling from the TRDP

There is a 30-day grace period during which you may disenroll from the TRDP if you have not used any benefits. After that opportunity, the enrollment commitment is 12 months. After the initial 12-month period has passed, your enrollment continues month-to-month and there is nothing you need to do to stay enrolled. If you wish to disenroll a 30-day notice is required. You may disenroll by completing an Online Inquiry or submitting your disenrollment request in writing to the address below or disenrollment can also be done via the Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE).

Disenrollment of a beneficiary who dies while enrolled in the TRDP is based on information received by the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) from the Social Security Administration. Delta Dental will receive notification automatically once the deceased enrollee’s status has been updated in DEERS. There may be a delay between when the enrollee’s death occurs and when Delta Dental receives the updated information; therefore, in order to ensure that a timely disenrollment can be processed, we recommend you immediately notify DMDC of the enrollee’s death by:

  • Visiting a local ID card office with a copy of the death certificate;
  • Faxing a copy of the death certificate to 831-655-8317; or
  • Mailing a copy of the death certificate to:

    Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) Support Office
    400 Gigling Road
    Seaside, CA 93955-6771

If you have any questions, call DMDC at 800-538-9552.

The enrolled spouse and/or children of a deceased enrollee may continue enrollment in the TRDP. Please contact us to adjust your premium amount (if applicable) and to make alternative arrangements (through either electronic funds transfer or recurring credit card payment) for continued payment of your monthly premiums.
